Wanted!

We are currently searching Australia-wide for an exceptional filly/mare to promote and eventually add to our herd of elite mares. We are looking for a filly/mare with excellent type and conformation, ideally of Amir El Shaklan, WN Dasjmir, Bey Shah, or Padron lineage. This filly would be promoted on a national basis and extensively shown, and broken in prior to being bred. Do you have something suitable? If so, please contact us with registered name and photos suitable for conformation assessment.

About

Tunamara Tagalon, Avril's first Arabian

Established in 2005, Rival Arabians is a boutique Arabian horse stud located in Perth, Western Australia. Started by Avril and Jason Cox, Rival are well equipped to provide a range of services for Arabian horse breeders and enthusiasts, ranging from specialised breeding stock and competitive show horses to full graphic design and video promotional services.

Our aim as a stud is to produce linebred Bey Shah and Padron descendants for show and breeding homes. We have chosen these stallions for their impressive contributions to the breed (particularly in halter and performance), as well as renowned temperament and trainability. We are keen to reproduce the qualities of these great horses as we believe our stock will produce a solid contribution to any breeding program.

Our first generation of stock will carry 2-3 crosses to one or both stallions. In our second we will add another 1-2 crosses. By the third we will look for a stallion who can contribute an outcross pedigree, preferably also intensely linebred.

We show sparingly at halter to keep our horses fresh and interested. We feel a true halter horse is specifically bred for and as such we will only use proven show horses and show horse lines.

Broodmares are chosen selectively for their disposition, type and pedigree and must excel in all categories. We assess our mares under saddle before breeding from them and will not sacrifice function for form.

Padron (Patron x Odessa)

Born in the Netherlands and sashed Dutch National Champion as a foal, breeders Dr. & Mrs. J.M.M. Blaauwhof must have known their flashy chestnut colt was very special.

Padron

On visiting the farm in 1978, Mr Bob Stratmore was overcome with Padron's beauty and type: "Padron had absolutely the most extreme head I had ever seen. A big eye and he always arched his neck and trotted like a prince. He just had a certain presence, and you knew he was different. Just extremely pretty. There was nothing I could do...I wanted him inmediately". He purchased and exported Padron to the US as a yearling.

Once in the US, Padron took the halter ring by storm, becoming a Triple-Crown winner, winning Scottsdale Senior Champion Stallion, Canadian National Champion Stallion and US National Champion Stallion in 1982.

Padron was later written into the history books with the largest syndication for an Arabian stallion, at USD $11,000,000.

Padron has been proven in the breeding barn, siring over 60 US National winners. One of his best known get is Padron's Psyche (out of Kilika), the leading sire of Halter champions at the US Nationals in 2000.

Padron's sire Patron, was by the Nazeer son Aswan, was given to the Russian's by the Egyptian government as a gift in return for building the Aswan dam. His dam, Odessa, was a proven show mare, named Regional Champion Mare in 1977 with Padron at foot. Padron carries 50% Russian lineage (technically 50% English, 25% Egyptian, 12.5% Polish and 12.5% French).

Padron's temperament was a memorable feature for those lucky enough to meet him: "*Padron was well-mannered and absolutely gorgeous, with the best neck I've ever seen." - Don Burleson. "*Padron was fun and easy to ride, easy to train, and he had tons of motion. I believe that if he had been trained for performance before halter, even in today's competition he would have been a champion English pleasure horse. He had incredible motion off both ends." - Bob Battaglia, who schooled Padron after his US National Championship.

By linebreeding to Padron we hope to improve height, add refinement in the neck and face and reinforce movement. We have used Padron through his sons Diamond Padron and Padrons Psyche.

Bey Shah (Bay El Bey x Star of Ofir)

Bey Shah

Born in 1976 and known as "Mr Perfection" by his breeders and handlers, Bey Shah needs no introduction.

Carrying the title of The living leading sire of halter champions, with 320 champions and 101 national winners to his name, not only does he produce winners, but is breeding this on, with 75 Bey Shah sons & daughters producing National winners. Bey Shah was '81 Canadian Top 10 Halter Stallion, '80 US Reserve National Champion Halter Stallion, '79 US Top 10 Halter Stallion and was awarded an IAHA Legion of Honor.

Bey Shah is a good example of prepotency, as he has a reputation for reproducing himself. His sire, Bay El Bey, is a proven candidate for linebreeding, with programs based on this producing top quality show and breeding stock. Bey Shah's dam, Star of Ofir, has produced 3 National Champions and 3 producers of National winners. Bey Shah carries over 50% Polish blood.

Temperament is of course a strong point for Bey Shah, as told by co-owner Barbara Rosado, "Bey Shah is the most incredible stallion, not only as a breeding sire, but as an individual who touches my soul.". He is known to reproduce show horse attitude and movement.

By linebreeding to Bey Shah we hope to reinforce movement, short backs and show horse attitude. We have used Bey Shah through his sons Fame VF (Bey Shah's top siring son), NV Beau Bey and daughter Bey Shameh.
